This workshop focuses on using contour lines to draw iconic cars of their choice from observation and then creating an arcade-like background to create a sense of space. \nParticipants will learn about lines so they can use contour lines to draw. They will learn about space using a one-point perspective to create the illusion of a 3D space on a 2D piece of paper. Contrast will also be discussed in order to use colors and patterns to make different parts of the artwork stand out. (Common Core Standards include: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.6.1\, CCSS.ELA.Literacy.W.6.7\, and CCSS.Math.Content.6.G.A.3) \nThis workshop is for youth ages 10+ and adults. Walk-ins welcome\, space permitting.) \nThe Fibonacci sequence of numbers can be determined using simple math. The sequence can be seen in nature frequently and can be used to draw a series of squares that can be used to draw a Fibonacci spiral (also known as the golden ratio). \nThe program will cover an example of the relationship between math and nature. Learn how to calculate the Fibonacci sequence and draw the squares that relate to it on grid paper with a ruler. The Fibonacci Spiral can then be drawn in the squares. \nAll supplies are included in the supply fee. This workshop is open to adults as well as children 10 years old or older. A variety of mixed media and assemblage techniques will be introduced. This will be an opportunity to creatively explore memories\, dreams and personal visions or give tribute to a friend or family member. It is a great way to practice intuitive art making skills and mine your personal and collective unconscious for insights and wisdom. \nParticipants will look at examples of Joseph Cornell’s assemblages and learn a bit about his motivations and techniques before crafting a shadowbox of their own design.
