SUMMARY:“Give Me Shelter” Exhibit Opening Day Appointments
DESCRIPTION:Give Me Shelter Art ExhibitMarch 5 – 27\, 2021\n“Beach Shelter” by Pamela Day\nDuring the pandemic we all have learned what it means to shelter in place. Shelters are often structures\, yet sometimes just a state of where one is. For many it is a way to connect to our dwellings\, and for others it merely means finding refuge. Some people even choose to shelter from the facts of the COVID-19 virus and its spread. The current crisis has nearly 40 million American renters at risk of homelessness. A building\, box\, bench\, grate\, tent\, car—all places where humans shelter. Come see how local artists explore the concept of shelter in the Give Me Shelter art exhibit at Del Ray Artisans. \nReserve a ticket for a half-hour viewing during the extended hours on opening day: Friday\, March 5 between 12-8pm. Opening day tickets are not required\, but ticket holders have priority entry. \nOpening Day Tickets \n\nAssistance\nIf you or someone you know is facing homelessness\, here are some resources by jurisdiction: \n\nCity of Alexandria: Eviction Prevention Programs\, Resources and Information and Homeless Services\nArlington County: Public Assistance and Shelters\nFairfax County: Emergency Shelters\nCity of Falls Church: Housing Services and Shelters\n\nAs well as direct links to local nonprofits with missions to assist: \n\nCarpenter’s Shelter: Housing assistance and more\nMedStreet: Medical care\nNew Hope Housing: Housing assistance and more\n\n\nElements of this exhibit will benefit the Carpenter’s Shelter\, supporting the needs of Alexandria families facing homelessness.
