His 1942 painting “Nighthawks” is Hopper’s most recognizable work. It is the visual narrative of a late-night New York City Greenwich Village diner scene\, bereft of a bustling business\, depicting three solo customers and a solemn soda jerk. \nIn the time of COVID-19\, quarantines\, shutdowns\, lockdowns\, orders of stay-at-home and safer-at-home have created a climate of extreme alienation and social deprivation. After Edward Hopper: Themes of Solitude and Isolation is the member-only show at Del Ray Artisans opening Friday\, February 5 and on exhibit until Saturday\, February 27\, 2021. \nReserve a ticket for a half-hour viewing during the extended hours on opening day: Friday\, February 5 between 12-8pm. Opening day tickets are not required\, but ticket holders have priority entry. The gallery capacity is limited to 10 people at any one time in order to facilitate social distancing. \nOpening Day Tickets \n“Homage Bar” by Gordon Thomas Frank\nArtists present their interpretations of what makes Hopper’s imagery quintessentially American: perseverance\, fortitude\, diversity\, and an egalitarian spirit in spite of adversity\, impoverishment\, and social injustice.
