Membership Code of Conduct

Del Ray Artisans (DRA) is a nonprofit organization committed to fostering creativity, building community, and promoting art in Alexandria, Virginia. This Code of Conduct establishes ethical principles for all members, aligning with DRA’s mission and professional standards.

By adhering to this Code of Conduct, members of Del Ray Artisans commit to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and ethical arts community. This Code reflects DRA’s dedication to integrity, collaboration, and respect for artistic expression and community values.

Mission Alignment & Inclusivity

All members will strive to support DRA’s mission to promote art, foster community engagement, and inspire creativity. Members will endeavor to ensure that DRA events, programs, and exhibitions are accessible and welcoming to all individuals, regardless of background or identity.

Representation & Conduct

In serving as a representative of Del Ray Artisans, members should act with integrity, honesty, and fairness in all interactions (including on DRA’s social media sites), decisions and responsibilities, and treat members, artists, visitors, staff, and board members with respect, dignity, and professionalism.

Members shall exercise artistic integrity by upholding honesty, originality, and respect for the creative work and artistic processes of others. They should respect intellectual property rights by avoiding plagiarism and giving proper credit to artists and collaborators.

Members shall strive to resolve disputes constructively and professionally, prioritizing the mission and values of DRA. In the event of ethical breaches, all members are expected to avoid public shaming.

Stewardship & Compliance with Laws, Policies and Ethical Standards

All members shall strive to steward and maintain DRA’s physical and financial resources to ensure organizational strength and sustainability. While at a DRA event or serving as a DRA representative, members are to conduct themselves in a manner that does not expose Del Ray Artisans to liability or to damage the reputation of the organization. Members shall adhere to DRA’s organizational operations, policies, and bylaws.

Member Violations

Members who engage in discrimination, harassment, hate speech, bullying, repeated disruptive or unprofessional conduct, theft, fraud, misuse of DRA resources, or failure to comply with DRA’s policies or bylaws may face disciplinary action.
