Living in a Mini World Art Exhibit
October 2-31, 2020
The Living in a Mini World art exhibit features small (and smaller) artworks by Del Ray Artisans members. Embrace the tiny! Imagine you have drunk Alice in Wonderland‘s magic (BIG) potion, or are in The Borrowers, Stewart Little, or Gulliver’s Travels.
Reserve a ticket now for a half-hour viewing on opening day: Friday, October 2, 2020 between 12-8pm. Gallery capacity is limited to 10 people at any one time in order to facilitate social distancing. Please wear a face mask and maintain 6? of personal space.
This exhibit is a collection of art smaller than a magazine. It has pushed some artists who are large scale painters or textile artists to think small. There are paintings perfect to fit in your tiniest spot, 3D works for the corner of your coffee table and lots of different types of jewelry. All the art is a perfect gift for you or early holiday shopping for others.
Come see the artwork awarded: Best in Show, Tiniest Piece, Monet Award, Best Use of Color, Palette Award for Painting, Da Vinci Award for most inventive, and Jackson Pollock Award for messiest use of materials. Visit the gallery and get to virtually know the artists, there will be written artist introductions with most of the work.
In addition to seeing the exhibit in October, register now for the special small format Playing with Resin workshop on Monday, October 12 from 6-9pm. Instructor Tracy Wilkerson will teach you the ins and outs of mixing resin and using it in your artwork as an adhesive, a covering, or the main medium.
All the art is available for purchase, come early in the month to have the widest selection! Get an early treat by visiting the gallery the day before Halloween (on Friday, October 30) and receive a special sweet gift with your purchase. Halloween costumes are not necessary, but sure would be fun!
The Living in a Mini World exhibit runs October 2-31, 2020 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are Thursday & Friday 12-6pm, Saturday 12-4pm. The gallery is free, open to the public, and accessible.
