Member Benefit Program: Photographing Your Artwork for Exhibit Submissions
Strong images can make all the difference when applying to exhibitions. In this presentation, we’ll focus on simple, effective techniques to help you capture clear, professional-looking photos of your artwork—using tools you likely already have. We will cover:
- How to use natural and artificial lighting to avoid glare and shadows
- Simple setups for photographing 2D and 3D artwork
- Camera and smartphone tips for sharper, more accurate images
- Framing, cropping, and background choices that highlight your work
- Common mistakes that can hurt your submissions—and how to avoid them
Whether you’re submitting to juried exhibitions, online galleries, or grant opportunities, having strong documentation of your work is essential. This workshop is designed for artists of all experience levels and will emphasize accessible, budget-friendly approaches.
