Pictures at an Alexandria Exhibition Online Auction

The timeless and inextricable relationship between music and art is clearly evidenced in the Pictures at an Alexandria Exhibition concert performance and online art auction. This is a collaborative project between the Del Ray Artisans (DRA), the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA), and the Symphony Orchestra League of Alexandria (SOLA).
For this exhibit, artists created pieces inspired by one or more of the following selections of music:
- Grand Canyon Suite, Ferde Grofé ~ Movement 4 ~ Sunset
- Dances of the Knights from Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Ballet
- Billy the Kid Suite, Aaron Copland ~ Movements 6, 7, 8: VI Celebration, VII Billy’s Death, VIII The Open Prairie
- Mississippi Suite, Ferde Grofé ~ Movement 3 ~ Mardi Gras
The artworks selected for the exhibit will be sold at an online auction between May 4–31, 2026. View the artwork and place your bids on the Ararity Auctions website. Proceeds benefit each artist, DRA, SONOVA, and SOLA.
On May 30 at 3pm, SONOVA will present a live performance of the four musical compositions that inspired the artwork at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center at Northern Virginia Community College*, Alexandria Campus. Selected artworks from the auction will be featured digitally during the concert. Tickets are available on the SONOVA website.
