Make your own 5×5-inch artwork inspired by Alma Thomas at Del Ray Artisans’ youth art activity booth at Dragon Fest at George Mason Elementary (2601 Cameron Mills Rd, Alexandria VA).
Alma Thomas’ art was kindled by what she saw around her and used circles, stripes and dashes to create brilliantly colored works of art. New York City’s art museum, The Whitney, featured her Paintings of Earth and Space in the first solo show by a black woman, and she spent most of her life working with and teaching youth about art.
STEAM-tastic @ DRA – Del Ray Artisans’ STEAM-tastic program is made possible with support from the City of Alexandria through the FY2025 Annual Arts Program Grant and through a generous donation supporting youth art programs from Genesis Inspiration Foundation.
