Are you already a practicing creative who needs inspiration and encouragement to keep producing? \nYou are cordially invited to join the Creative Revival Artist’s Way Circle\, a facilitated group by artist and curator Sharon Burton that will meet once a week for 12 weeks as we go through The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. Together\, we will share our journey into finding your creative “Muse” whether it expresses itself through art or just finding a new creative career. The program is focused on supporting relationships in removing artistic blocks and fostering confidence. The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path To Higher Creativity is a self-help book by author Julia Cameron. The book was originally produced to assist individuals with artistic creative recovery\, by teaches techniques and exercises to assist in gaining self-confidence in harnessing creative talents and skills. \nEach week we will meet to discuss each chapter of the book\, our daily journaling practice (via “The Morning Pages”)\, weekly Artist’s Dates that you select to inspire yourself and other insights that you wish to share on this special journey. Each participant will receive The Artist’s Way book and journal for the program\, as well as access to a Facebook Group and a group of other artists and creatives moving through the journey with you. \nNOTE: Materials fee pays for “The Artist’s Way Starter Kit”\, including Cameron’s two most important Artist’s Way tools: “The Artist’s Way” and “The Artist’s Way Morning Pages Journal”. DESCRIPTION:The Wednesday\, February 20 evening session has been canceled due to the inclement weather. View the schedule for upcoming sessions \nLooking for a chance to hone your figure drawing skills? Del Ray Artisans offers a range of open life drawing sessions for just this purpose. Both nude and clothed models are featured. (Models will be nude unless otherwise noted.) These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint from our live models. We don’t supply easels but you are welcome to bring your own if you want to use one. Please no acrylics or oils; pastels\, watercolor and ink are permissible. All skill levels are welcome. \nThe fee for each three-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. Two-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. \nLong Pose Sessions\nIf you want to spend an extended amount of time on a pose\, come to our long pose sessions. These sessions are generally composed of two long poses with perhaps a few warm-ups at the start.

DESCRIPTION:Meets second Sundays from November-June \nUrban Sketchbooking emphasizes storytelling that conveys a sense of place or a moment in time through drawings completed from direct observations. DESCRIPTION:Artwork by Linda Lowery \nLooking for a chance to hone your figure drawing skills? Del Ray Artisans offers a range of open life drawing sessions for just this purpose. Both nude and clothed models are featured. (Models will be nude unless otherwise noted.) These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint from our live models. We don’t supply easels but you are welcome to bring your own if you want to use one. Please no acrylics or oils; pastels\, watercolor and ink are permissible. All skill levels are welcome. \nThe fee for each three-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. Two-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. \nLong Pose Sessions\nIf you want to spend an extended amount of time on a pose\, come to our long pose sessions. DESCRIPTION:Bringing Words to Life Art Exhibit at VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital\nSeptember 30\, 2018 – January 27\, 2019\n“I Hope You Dance” by Monica Hokeilen\nThe Bringing Words to Life art exhibit at the Veterinary Clinics of America Alexandria Animal Hospital (VCA Alexandria) features Del Ray Artisans members’ artwork. The exhibit is a part of Del Ray Artisans’ Gallery Without Walls (GWW) program in partnership with VCA Alexandria and features paintings\, photography\, and mixed media works of art. \nWords can be powerful forms of art. Whether written\, spoken\, or sung\, words often evoke emotion and meaning that stay with us long after they are finished. Bringing Words to Life pairs a line from an artist’s favorite song\, poem\, book\, or speech with the artist’s visual interpretation of that quote. This exhibit will display the artwork and quoted lines together at VCA Alexandria from September 30\, 2018 through January 27\, 2019. Patrons may view the artwork at VCA Alexandria during regular business hours and at the discretion of hospital staff. \nAll artwork is available for purchase through Del Ray Artisans. Artists are donating 20% of the purchase price of sold pieces in an equal split between Del Ray Artisans and the VCA Alexandria’s charity of choice\, Veterans Moving Forward. Veterans Moving Forward helps veterans lead more productive lives through partnerships with trained assistance animals. DESCRIPTION:Come to the gallery to gather around our crafting tables and create greeting cards you would never find anywhere else. Each card becomes it’s own work of art as participants “treasure hunt” through papers\, images and all sorts of supplies (stamps\, inks\, colored pencils\, paints\, etc.) and ephemera for embellishing. \nThese card-making parties turn out to be a “creative jam session” for all who attend. DESCRIPTION:Meets second Sundays from November-June \nUrban Sketchbooking emphasizes storytelling that conveys a sense of place or a moment in time through drawings completed from direct observations. This Del Ray meeting operates on a drop-in basis during afternoons of the second Sunday of each month\, so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the cafe to produce still life\, figure\, or architecture subjects in your sketchbook. Participants will spend some time putting their skills into practice and then reconvene for a review of finished works. The fee for each 2-hour session is $8 for members and $10 for non-members. \nThe January 13th meetup will be at Nectar Del Ray (106 Hume Avenue\, Alexandria\, VA 22301).

In a lecture and discussion format\, Rita Schooley\, CPA will go over the general points of tax law and then answer questions. We will also discuss general aspects of business from an artist’s viewpoint. We cover recordkeeping\, record retention\, filing tax returns\, estimated tax payments\, and navigating the tax maze. \nAdditionally\, participants can bring all tax- and business-related questions for consideration. Rita will be available after the session for about half an hour to answer questions privately.

SUMMARY:Life Drawing - Long Poses
DESCRIPTION:Artwork by Linda Lowery \nLooking for a chance to hone your figure drawing skills? Del Ray Artisans offers a range of open life drawing sessions for just this purpose. Both nude and clothed models are featured. (Models will be nude unless otherwise noted.) These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint from our live models. We don’t supply easels but you are welcome to bring your own if you want to use one. Please no acrylics or oils; pastels\, watercolor and ink are permissible. All skill levels are welcome. \nThe fee for each three-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. Two-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. \nLong Pose Sessions\nIf you want to spend an extended amount of time on a pose\, come to our long pose sessions.
