DESCRIPTION:Come to the gallery for our card making party on Veterans Day (Monday\, November 11) from 4-8pm. All are welcome to this free\, drop-in\, 4-hour card making creative social party and giving event to benefit Del Ray Artisans (DRA). \nDonated handmade cards will be used to freshen up the gallery card display and for the Sunshine Committee to send to members and friends who could use a little “shine” to brighten their day. Plus\, we’ll make some upbeat cards for our Veterans on this national holiday! \nHostesses Theresa Kulstad and Karen Schmitz welcome all levels of “cardie” enthusiasts to drop-in (no registration required) and will provide plenty of art making materials\, cards\, envelopes\, and munchies. DESCRIPTION:Local Artisan Showcase at VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital\nNovember 11\, 2018 – November 10\, 2019\n“Life is Good with the Wind on Your Face” by Monica Hokeilen\nThe Local Artisan Showcase at the Veterinary Clinics of America Alexandria Animal Hospital (VCA Alexandria) features Del Ray Artisans members’ artwork. The exhibit is a part of Del Ray Artisans’ Gallery Without Walls (GWW) program in partnership with VCA Alexandria and features paintings\, photography\, and mixed media works of art. \nThis year-long exhibit in the exam rooms at the VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital runs from November 11\, 2018 through November 10\, 2019. Patrons may view the artwork at VCA Alexandria during regular business hours and at the discretion of hospital staff. Regular hours are Monday through Friday 8am-8pm\, Saturday 8am-3pm\, and closed Sunday. \nAll artwork is available for purchase through Del Ray Artisans. Artists are donating 20% of the purchase price of sold pieces to Del Ray Artisans\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. \nVCA Alexandria Animal Hospital is located at 2660 Duke Street\, Alexandria\, VA 22314. Gwen will share some of how she finds and curates inspiration and then some of the ways that she interprets that inspiration for artwork and product design. She’ll also talk about methods for staying inspired and motivated and how she keeps from getting blocked. \nFor additional guidance and to stretch your own creative self\, Gwen Lafleur is teaching The Hanging Art Journal workshop on November 16 at Artistic Artifacts. \n \n\nAbout the Instructor: Gwen Lafleur is a lifelong artist\, crafter\, designer\, and world traveler who has been involved in arts and crafts her entire life\, trying anything from drawing lessons to paper crafts and finally finding her true home as a mixed media artist. Gwen’s work can be found in private collections around the world and has been published in Cloth Paper Scissors\, Somerset Studio\, and Creative Scrapbooker magazines. Explore the mindful fusion of movement and breath as it guides us to a better understanding of our true self. Learn about the ancient tradition of yoga and how it leads us to greater connection in our lives. Each class will include the following elements: yoga philosophy\, movement practice (asana)\, breath work (pranayama)\, meditation (dhyana). \nThis class is suitable for everybody and inclusive of those with limited mobility. \nKay Sidahmed is a RYT-200 yoga teacher who embraces yoga as a way of service to one another and the earth.
