DESCRIPTION:Looking for a chance to hone your figure drawing skills? Del Ray Artisans offers a range of open life drawing sessions for just this purpose. Both nude and clothed models are featured. (Models will be nude unless otherwise noted.) These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint from our live models. We don’t supply easels but you are welcome to bring your own if you want to use one. Please no acrylics or oils; pastels\, watercolor and ink are permissible. All skill levels are welcome. \nThe fee for each three-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. Two-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. \nGesture Sessions\nCome to the gesture sessions to loosen up and participate in a fun\, fast-paced drawing experience. These two-hour sessions are composed primarily of dynamic 1 to 5-minute poses. She’ll also talk about methods for staying inspired and motivated and how she keeps from getting blocked. \nFor additional guidance and to stretch your own creative self\, Gwen Lafleur is teaching The Hanging Art Journal workshop on November 16 at Artistic Artifacts. \n \n\nAbout the Instructor: Gwen Lafleur is a lifelong artist\, crafter\, designer\, and world traveler who has been involved in arts and crafts her entire life\, trying anything from drawing lessons to paper crafts and finally finding her true home as a mixed media artist. Showcasing the animals that lift and fill our hearts is a popular theme at VCA Alexandria and coincides with the winter holiday season when creature comforts of all types are especially appreciated. \nCreature Comforts runs September 30\, 2019 through January 26\, 2020 at VCA Alexandria\, 2660 Duke Street\, Alexandria\, VA 22314. Patrons may view the artwork at VCA Alexandria during regular business hours and at the discretion of hospital staff. Regular hours are Monday through Friday 8am-8pm\, Saturday 8am-3pm\, and closed Sunday. \nAll the artwork on display is by Del Ray Artisans members. Artists are donating 20% of the purchase price of sold pieces to Del Ray Artisans\, who is splitting the donation with VCA Alexandria’s charity of choice\, the Wildlife Rescue League.
