DESCRIPTION:Along Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray on Saturday\, November 12\, 2022 from 10am-5pm\, you’ll find: Art on the Avenue\, a multicultural arts festival celebrating our community’s diversity through the arts in Alexandria\, Virginia. There will be entertainment for all ages\, art activities\, food\, and artists displaying and selling their work all along Mount Vernon Avenue. Art on the Avenue is sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association. \nArtists at Work\nDirectly in front of the gallery\, Del Ray Artisans present artist demonstrations\, sell upcycled tote bags (made from exhibit banners) and 2023 wall calendars (featuring art from local artists and community event dates)\, and share information about our nonprofit arts organization (booths W-192 and W-193). Come visit us and see these demos: \n\n10am-Noon – TBD\nNoon-1pm – Ron Reel\, Photography\n1-3pm – Cheryl Neway\, Batiking\n3pm-dusk – Erica Hughes\, Performance art\n\nSupport Del Ray Artisans Members\, Local Artists\nMany Del Ray Artisans members are juried into Art on the Avenue. DESCRIPTION:Drop-in and practice life drawing on one select Tuesday evening each month. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our nude model. \nTraditional drawing media (such as pencils\, pens\, and charcoal) are welcome; and pastels\, watercolor and ink are permissible. Please do not bring acrylics or oil paints. We don’t supply easels – only plenty of chairs – but you are welcome to bring your own easel if you want to use one. All skill levels are welcome. \nThe first part of this session will be focused on gesture poses (dynamic 1-5 minute poses) to loosen up and participate in a fun\, fast-paced drawing experience. DESCRIPTION:Return to Eating\, Drinking\, and Merriment Art ExhibitOctober 7-29\, 2022Reception: Friday\, October 7\, 7–9pm\nPhoto Album \nThe Return to Eating\, Drinking\, and Merriment art exhibit is a hybrid show—specifically both a nationally-juried ceramic cup and bowl show combined with a regional non­ceramic show organized around the theme of eating\, drinking\, and merriment. Celebrate the ways that food and drink bring together people and bring joy to our lives. \nJoin us on opening day\, Friday\, October 7\, between 7-9pm for curator remarks and juror awards. Curator Stephen Lally will share his vision for this hybrid exhibit\, share details about the award winners (selected by juror Jeremy Wallace)\, and answer questions in a casual gathering. The online platform allows for participants from across the country to attend. Juried in to the National Ceramic Cup show include artists from Alabama\, Illinois\, Minnesota\, North Carolina\, Ohio\, New York\, as well as local DMV artists. Register at delrayartisans.eventbrite.com to receive the online meeting link. \nThe juror for the National Ceramic Cup Show and awards is Jeremy Wallace (@wallaceceramics)\, a wood and soda fire potter. His work uses form\, texture\, and atmospheric firing to capture the beauty of raw clay in the finished vessel. His work has been exhibited nationally\, he has taught classes and workshops at multiple clay studios\, and he was chosen as a Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist in 2016. He maintains his studio practice at Baltimore Clayworks. \nThe exhibit runs October 7-29\, 2022 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are Thursday 12-6pm\, Friday 12-9pm\, Saturday 12-6pm\, and Sunday 12-6pm (closed the last Sunday of the month). \nFace masks are recommended inside the gallery. DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: Art on the Avenue has been rescheduled to Saturday\, November 12 due to the wind and rain associated with Hurricane Ian. \nAlong Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray on Saturday\, October 1\, 2022 from 10am-6pm\, you’ll find: Art on the Avenue\, a multicultural arts festival celebrating our community’s diversity through the arts in Alexandria\, Virginia. There will be entertainment for all ages\, art activities\, food\, and artists displaying and selling their work all along Mount Vernon Avenue. Art on the Avenue is sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association. \nArtists at Work\nDirectly in front of the gallery during Art on the Avenue\, Del Ray Artisans will present artist demonstrations\, sell upcycled tote bags made from exhibit banners\, and share information about our nonprofit organization (booths W-192 and W-193).
