In this class we will take a photowalk looking for patterns\, textures\, reflections\, shadows\, architectural details\, plants\, insects and more. \nStudents must bring their own camera.  \nStudents are responsible for providing their own transportation. The workshop begins at River Farm Gardens (7931 E Boulevard Dr\, Alexandria VA 22308) at 9am. The process of adding and taking away the different colors will create unique works reflecting each student’s journey with the chakras. \nParticipants will practice layering wet acrylic paints on paper. Then\, will explore a variety of tools for etching into the paint. After exploring the possibilities\, they will choose some favorite techniques to use on their canvases. We will discuss the chakras\, pausing to add a new layer of color after each one. As they add each layer\, participants can consider their own strengths and needs and consider setting intentions as they add and subtract color. The sound waves of the gong aids in facilitating the flow of energy in our bodies. \nThis experiential workshop begins with an easy but effective breath exercise\, followed by a guided meditation to energize the chakra system. The workshop culminates in a gong sound experience to release energetic blocks\, stimulate circulation and the glandular system. \nNo experience necessary. DESCRIPTION:Registration is now closed. \nInstructor: Jackie Tury\nDates: Friday\, June 28 from 7 to 9 PM\nClass size: 6-15 participants\n(Register by June 27; Walk-ins welcome\, space and supplies permitting.) \nTake a moment to relax\, center yourself and create a beautiful mixed media mandala with artist Jackie Tury. You will be led in a brief guided meditation and short discussion before creating your own mandala. All instructions and supplies are provided. Students will leave with their own unique mixed media mandala to use in their meditation practice\, as a decorative touch for home or office\, or simply as a visual reminder to pause\, reflect and return to center. \nParticipants will enjoy an evening focused on relaxation and creativity while making a mixed media mandala. \n. \n\nThis workshop is a part of Del Ray Artisans’ Creative Summer Programs.
