The flow of energy in our chakras is a function of how we relate to ourselves. The gong is an effective tool in balancing the chakras. The sound waves of the gong aids in facilitating the flow of energy in our bodies. \nThis experiential workshop begins with an easy but effective breath exercise\, followed by a guided meditation to energize the chakra system. The workshop culminates in a gong sound experience to release energetic blocks\, stimulate circulation and the glandular system. \nNo experience necessary. Please bring a yoga mat or blanket\, as well as a cushion for seated meditation if needed. A limited number of chairs will be available. SUMMARY:Painting the Chakra Energies Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Nancy RamseyDate: Saturday\, June 15 from 10am-12pm\nClass size: 2-12 participants\n(Register by June 14; Walk-ins welcome\, space & supplies permitting.) \nChakra Energies by Nancy Ramsey\nParticipants will use a variety of tools for layering and taking away paint to create works in acrylic that represent the energies of the chakras. The process of adding and taking away the different colors will create unique works reflecting each student’s journey with the chakras. \nParticipants will practice layering wet acrylic paints on paper. Then\, will explore a variety of tools for etching into the paint. After exploring the possibilities\, they will choose some favorite techniques to use on their canvases. We will discuss the chakras\, pausing to add a new layer of color after each one. As they add each layer\, participants can consider their own strengths and needs and consider setting intentions as they add and subtract color. SUMMARY:Life Drawing - Gesture
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a chance to hone your figure drawing skills? Del Ray Artisans offers a range of open life drawing sessions for just this purpose. Both nude and clothed models are featured. (Models will be nude unless otherwise noted.) These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint from our live models. We don’t supply easels but you are welcome to bring your own if you want to use one. Please no acrylics or oils; pastels\, watercolor and ink are permissible. All skill levels are welcome. \nThe fee for each three-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. Two-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. \nGesture Sessions\nCome to the gesture sessions to loosen up and participate in a fun\, fast-paced drawing experience. These two-hour sessions are composed primarily of dynamic 1 to 5-minute poses. In this class we will take a photowalk looking for patterns\, textures\, reflections\, shadows\, architectural details\, plants\, insects and more. \nStudents must bring their own camera.  \nStudents are responsible for providing their own transportation. The workshop begins at River Farm Gardens (7931 E Boulevard Dr\, Alexandria VA 22308) at 9am. We will depart River Farm Gardens at 11am and meet back at Del Ray Artisans (2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria VA 22301) for the 2nd half of the program. \nPlease bring a lunch or snack. The DC edition started in 2016 under the direction of Bebe A. Uy and has been a great success. They debuted at the Resolution Jam\, one of DMV’s largest social events. This group is rapidly gaining popularity and offers some of the highest level of salsa training in the DC area. Bebe and her teams have many performances lined up\, and she is sought after to teach in events and venues both locally and worldwide.
