DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Ellen Rosenthal\nDate/Time: Saturday\, January 6\, 10am-12pm\nCost: $18 Del Ray Artisans member / $28 Non-member; plus a $6 Supply Fee\nClass size: 3-9 participants\n(Register by noon on January 5) \nFor this workshop\, we’ll take a dive into the world of artists’ books – works of art in book form – while we create a flag book. Flag books can look complicated\, but you’ll be surprised how doable they are once you learn the steps\, and how delightful they are to look at and experience. Your completed flag book will be ready to enhance with any type of content: text or images. \nThe $6.00 supply fee covers all the paper and other supplies to make the books. In addition\, you will need to bring these supplies of your own to the workshop: \n\nRuler (12″ or longer)\nCutting board or piece of cardboard (12 x 12″ or larger)\nScissors\nPencil\nMetal spoon\nColored markers or colored pencils (optional).\n\nNote: We will be making blank flag books with 12 pages\, or “flags” (double-sided). The main goal of the workshop is to learn how to construct a basic flag book\, but we will have some time during the last part of the workshop to talk about ideas for content and strategies for embellishment. DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Camille Kouyoumdjian\nDate/Time: Saturday\, January 13\, 10am-12pm\nCost: $35 Del Ray Artisans member / $45 Non-member; plus a $15 Supply Fee\nClass size: 5-20 participants\n(Register by midnight on January 10) \n“Earth’s Abundance” by Camille Kouyoumdjian\nLearn to make your own recycled\, hand-painted papers and use them in a collage. Collect landscape photos of places that are meaningful to you and bring them to the class along with old magazines\, photocopied photos\, newspapers\, maps\, and other paper materials. The workshop will include a short demo on making hand-painted papers. We will go over value and color\, and think about our compositions. You will then arrange your own composition with your torn papers and glue it to heavyweight paper.  \nYou should bring several photocopied images of landscapes that are meaningful to you (preferably images you’ve taken yourself)\, as well as any recyclable paper materials (such as newspaper\, magazines\, and tissue paper) you’d like to include. SUMMARY:Nature Journaling Club
DESCRIPTION:Practiced by artists and naturalists alike\, nature journaling is a centuries-old exercise in refining our powers of observation\, appreciation for nature\, drawing skills\, and mindful presence. This group is open to all experience levels as we meet to sketch\, connect\, and learn together! \nWe meet at 10am in front of Del Ray Artisans on the final Saturday morning of the month (except not in July\, November\, and December). Mark your calendar or set a reminder in Eventbrite. \nParticipants will need to bring their own sketchbooks and supplies. We will have plenty of time for sketching in nature before gathering again at 11:30am to share our sketches and observations and discuss tips and tools for nature journaling in the wild. We hope you will join us as we strengthen our art and inquiry practice together! \nSuggested supplies: sketchbook\, pens\, pencils\, colored pencils\, watercolor pencils\, or other portable media\, and a water bottle since we will be outdoors.
