DESCRIPTION:Nina Tisara\n(Photo: Steven Halperson)\nJoin fellow Del Ray Artisans members ONLINE for the Member Meeting & Benefit Program on Thursday\, May 20 starting at 7pm. \nRegister Now \nWe’ll begin with a short meeting\, then Nina Tisara and Steven Halperson will tell us about their work creating portraits for Living Legends of Alexandria. \nNina Tisara founded Living Legends of Alexandria\, a nonprofit dedicated to honoring and chronicling individuals who have made significant contributions to the quality of life in Alexandria\, Virginia. Beginning her career as a part-time photojournalist\, Nina has photographed Alexandria people and places since 1980 and started the Living Legends program in 2006. After 30+ years as a professional photographer\, Nina Tisara’s primary artistic focus is now mosaics and\, in her not-so-spare time\, Nina writes a monthly column for the Zebra newspaper. \nSteven Halperson manages and is the primary photographer for Tisara Photography in Old Town Alexandria\, a family owned and operated business incorporated in 1985. His portraits of Alexandria’s current Living Legends are on permanent display in the Market Square Lobby of Alexandria City Hall. Steven continues to develop the creative aspects of his work and experiments with various forms of expression\, copper etching  and circuit boards\, as well as photography. \nPLUS register for the meeting before 5pm on May 18 and attend to also be entered into a drawing for some Del Ray Artisans’ swag! DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 29\, 2020 starting at 7pm(Register & Vote before Oct 28 at Noon)\n \n\nRegister to attend the Annual Meeting\nVote Online for the 2021 Board of Directors\n\nThe meeting will be an online Zoom meeting. Registered members will be sent login information via email the day before the meeting. You may attend on a computer\, tablet\, or smartphone. Vote online now through October 28óthe results will be announced at the annual meeting. \nWe have a full agenda planned for you during the ONLINE Annual Member Meeting! This will be your opportunity to hear information about all the shows planned for 2021. The new President\, Dale Spivey\, will present a special message about the organization and introduce the newly elected 2021 Board of Directors. Due to the pandemic\, voting will be online this year. (Voting details in the next section.) \nMembers who register by the deadline (noon on Oct 28) and attend the meeting are eligible for the drawing to win an artist’s easel. Three gently used easels will be given away at the end of the meeting. Easels must be picked up by the winners no later than Nov 28. \nRegister for the Meeting \n\nVoting for the Slate or Individual Candidates\n“Members in Good Standing” (current membership) are eligible to voteóso please renew your membership if you haven’t already. You do not need to attend the meeting to vote. All electronic votes must be received by Wednesday\, October 28 at noon. DESCRIPTION:Join fellow members ONLINE for the Summer Membership Meeting on Sunday\, August 16 from 4-5pm. \nRSVP Now \nCurrent members who RSVP in advance and attend will receive a $10 gift certificate to Pork Barrel BBQ! Unfortunately we can’t picnic together this year\, but let’s individually patron Del Ray Artisans’ frequent sponsor Pork Barrel BBQ through take out during the pandemic. \nThe Office Manager will give an overview of the ALX Promise program during the meeting. The City of Alexandria Health Department and Visit Alexandria created the program for businesses and organizations to commit to higher safety standards for employees and customers. Del Ray Artisans’ staff have been ALX Promise certified since early June. The Board encourages interested members to also be trained. \nThis membership meeting will be online through the Zoom platform. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, February 9 from 4-6pm\nThe time is here! Join us at our most popular All Members Meeting: Del Ray Artisans’ annual Art Supplies Swap! If you haven’t already\, check your studios\, basements\, closets\, attics—wherever you have stashed those old art supplies that you really thought you would use\, and bite the bullet—if you haven’t used them yet—give someone else a chance! And maybe you will find a new project waiting for you! Please bring your old supplies with you to the meeting. \nThis year\, we ask that you to take a look at what you have and see if items can be donated to Inspiration Matterz\, an initiative run by local artist and fellow Del Ray Artisans member Kelli Sincock. See below for the list of supplies needed for the prison program and continuing education [outside of jail] program. \nAny supplies not donated to Inspiration Matterz will be collected and displayed in the middle of the room. Light refreshments will be served as we learn about the latest DRA news\, and view the supplies. We will then pull names from a hat to take turns choosing “new” supplies! Most asked for images: birds\, butterflies\, lions & tigers\, cars\, cityscapes\, wildlife\, roses/flowers\, and portraits.\nWhen someone is released and they have been an exceptional student who shows serious interest in continuing their study of art\, I give them a gift packet of NEW supplies and paper.
