DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, May 18 starting at 4pm\, join your fellow Del Ray Artisans members for the spring member meeting and this FREE member benefit program to find out how you can prepare to show your work successfully at Del Ray Artisans and beyond. \nMany art galleries will refuse to accept artwork that is poorly wired\, incorrectly framed\, or otherwise not finished professionally. Why risk losing your entry fee for something that is so easily within your control? Come to this program to learn tips and tricks for successful finishing! In addition\, you’ll learn how to prep files ahead of time\, including creating and maintaining your artist bio\, building an inventory database of all your pieces\, and keeping a photo library. When you have everything properly set up\, you can respond to calls for entry whenever they pop up\, even if the deadline is tomorrow (or today)! \nThe event will begin with a brief meeting and include light refreshments. We’ll start with refreshments and a brief business meeting\, then dive into Instagram for Artists! \nDel Ray Artisans’ Technology Director Dina Wise will walk you through Instagram\, including building posts\, stories\, reels\, and more. She’ll discuss the importance of captions\, hashtags and @tags; setting up collaborations; and how to photograph and edit art to create the perfect post. \nHomework before the meeting: if you haven’t already\, try signing up for Instagram and come with questions! Dina may not be able to help remote viewers with troubleshooting specific to their account\, but generic questions are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Nina Tisara\n(Photo: Steven Halperson)\nJoin fellow Del Ray Artisans members ONLINE for the Member Meeting & Benefit Program on Thursday\, May 20 starting at 7pm. \nRegister Now \nWe’ll begin with a short meeting\, then Nina Tisara and Steven Halperson will tell us about their work creating portraits for Living Legends of Alexandria. \nNina Tisara founded Living Legends of Alexandria\, a nonprofit dedicated to honoring and chronicling individuals who have made significant contributions to the quality of life in Alexandria\, Virginia. Beginning her career as a part-time photojournalist\, Nina has photographed Alexandria people and places since 1980 and started the Living Legends program in 2006. After 30+ years as a professional photographer\, Nina Tisara’s primary artistic focus is now mosaics and\, in her not-so-spare time\, Nina writes a monthly column for the Zebra newspaper. \nSteven Halperson manages and is the primary photographer for Tisara Photography in Old Town Alexandria\, a family owned and operated business incorporated in 1985. His portraits of Alexandria’s current Living Legends are on permanent display in the Market Square Lobby of Alexandria City Hall. Steven continues to develop the creative aspects of his work and experiments with various forms of expression\, copper etching  and circuit boards\, as well as photography. \nPLUS register for the meeting before 5pm on May 18 and attend to also be entered into a drawing for some Del Ray Artisans’ swag!
