Representing courage\, vitality\, speed\, and independence\, the horse inspires artworks that capture energy\, movement\, mythology\, and heritage. This exhibition also reflects Del Ray Artisans’ commitment to cultural sensitivity\, showcasing works that honor the origins of the Lunar New Year with respect and authenticity. \nJoin us for the opening reception on Friday\, February 6 between 7-9pm to meet curators Morgan Parr and Annemarie Kuhns and the artists. SUMMARY:Lunar New Year Block Printing Workshop (Family-friendly; Register ASAP)
DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Morgan Parr\nDate/Time: Tuesday\, February 17\, 4-6pm\nCost: $10 Child / $20 Del Ray Artisans member / $30 Non-member; plus $5 supply fee\nClass size: 3-15 participants\n(Register in advance; Walk-ins welcome only if space permits) \nCelebrate the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse through playful\, hands-on printmaking. Participants will design and carve soft foam printing plates inspired by zodiac horse imagery and celestial constellations\, then ink and hand-print their designs using brayers and water-based inks. Create multiple prints to take home and share. \nParticipants will explore introductory printmaking\, focusing on pattern-making\, symbolism\, and visual storytelling. They will gain hands-on experience with accessible tools. They will leave with original prints and a deeper understanding of the printmaking process. \nNo experience needed. This hands-on workshop is open to adults and children ages 7+ with an adult—families welcome!
