The faraway lands\, perilous journeys with magical characters and fantastic creatures? The Fairy Tales Around the World art exhibit celebrates the stories and fables that shaped us\, from local legends to distant tales\, from mythical beasts to heroes\, villains and everyone in between. \nJoin us for the opening reception on Friday\, March 7 between 7-9pm to meet curator Courtney Pippin-Mathur and the artists. Mark your calendar now or set a reminder through Eventbrite. \nRegister now for creative workshops held in conjunction with this exhibit: \n\nDraw your Fairy Home in the Forest (for children ages 6-12 years old) on Saturday\, March 8\, 10am-12pm\nCreate a unique 3-D Paper Maché Fairy Tale Character (for teens 16+ years old and adults) on Fridays\, March 14 and March 21\, 6pm-9pm\nCraft a fairy tale inspired Paper Maché Wall Hanging (for children ages 9-15 years old) on Saturdays\, March 22 & March 29\, 10am-1pm\n\nThe Fairy Tales Around the World art exhibit runs from March 7–29\, 2025 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are Thursday 12-6pm\, Friday 12-9pm\, Saturday 12-6pm\, and Sunday 12-6pm (closed March 30). \nThe gallery is free\, open to the public\, and accessible. SUMMARY:STEAM-tastic: Fairy Home in the Forest Workshop (Ages 6-12; Register ASAP)
DESCRIPTION:Instructor Morgan Parr\nInstructor: Morgan Parr\nDate/Time: Saturday\, March 8\, 10am-12pm\nCost: $25/child\nClass size: 4-20 participants\n(Register in advance; walk-ins welcome only if space permits) \nDraw your own fairy home using markers and paint to capture even the tiniest of details. \nYoung artists will use picture books\, drawings\, and their creativity to create a 2D home for their imaginary fairies that includes variations on fairy homes\, mushrooms\, leaves\, flowers\, insects and more. All supplies included. \nThis workshop is for participants ages 6-12 years old. Family members are welcome to attend\, listen\, and learn. Please contact the Youth Programs Director at youth@delrayartisans.org with any questions. \nThis workshop is held in conjunction with the Fairy Tales Around the World art exhibit. \nRegister Now \n\nSTEAM-tastic @ DRA – Come join us at Del Ray Artisans for interactive classes about Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts and Math (STEAM)\, taught by professionals from each field! Geared toward kids and teens\, each lesson has a short talk or demonstration and a hands-on craft project.
