DESCRIPTION:Return to Eating\, Drinking\, and Merriment Art Exhibit\nOctober 7-29\, 2022\nReception: Friday\, October 7\, 7–9pm\nPhoto Album \nThe Return to Eating\, Drinking\, and Merriment art exhibit is a hybrid show—specifically both a nationally-juried ceramic cup and bowl show combined with a regional non­ceramic show organized around the theme of eating\, drinking\, and merriment. Celebrate the ways that food and drink bring together people and bring joy to our lives. \nJoin us on opening day\, Friday\, October 7\, between 7-9pm for curator remarks and juror awards. Thank you to Artifacts Framing and Let’s Meat on the Avenue for sponsoring the awards! Mark your calendar now or set a reminder through Eventbrite. \nPlus join us online on Saturday\, October 8 at 7:30pm for Cocktails with the Curator. Curator Stephen Lally will share his vision for this hybrid exhibit\, share details about the award winners (selected by juror Jeremy Wallace)\, and answer questions in a casual gathering. The online platform allows for participants from across the country to attend. Juried in to the National Ceramic Cup show include artists from Alabama\, Illinois\, Minnesota\, North Carolina\, Ohio\, New York\, as well as local DMV artists. Register at delrayartisans.eventbrite.com to receive the online meeting link. \nThe juror for the National Ceramic Cup Show and awards is Jeremy Wallace (@wallaceceramics)\, a wood and soda fire potter. His work uses form\, texture\, and atmospheric firing to capture the beauty of raw clay in the finished vessel. His work has been exhibited nationally\, he has taught classes and workshops at multiple clay studios\, and he was chosen as a Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist in 2016. He maintains his studio practice at Baltimore Clayworks. \nThe exhibit runs October 7-29\, 2022 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are Thursday 12-6pm\, Friday 12-9pm\, Saturday 12-6pm\, and Sunday 12-6pm (closed the last Sunday of the month). \nFace masks are recommended inside the gallery. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Alexandria Arts Alliance’s Party for the Arts celebrating the arts’ impact and resilience as part of National Arts & Humanities Month. The party is on Saturday\, October 8\, 2022 from 4-7pm at the Canal Center Plaza\, Alexandria’s newest waterfront venue in the Old Town North Arts District. The event will feature performances on multiple outdoor stages and indoor galleries. \nThe Alexandria Arts Alliance\, in partnership with local visual arts spaces including Principle Gallery\, Kyo Gallery\, Galactic Panther Gallery\, the Athenaeum and Del Ray Artisans will be presenting the first-of-its-kind exhibition featuring artists and art that best represent and highlight Alexandria’s power to inspire\, spark change\, and contribute to the vibrant\, thriving and inclusive Alexandria community! \nThis collaborative exhibition will launch during the Party for the Arts. The Canal Center Gallery Exhibition will run for a special limited time—from October 8–16\, 2022. In addition to the party\, gallery hours are Sunday 10/9 from 4-8pm\, Friday 10/14 from 4-10pm\, Saturday 10/15 from 12-10pm\, and Sunday 10/16 from 4-8pm. Join this collegial group of artists to share your goals and get feedback on artwork. Monthly meetings include discussions on exhibit opportunities\, the creative process and the local art scene.
