DESCRIPTION:A Space Between Art Exhibit\nAugust 5-27\, 2022\nPhoto Album \nThe A Space Between art exhibit at Del Ray Artisans gallery focuses on shadows\, negative space\, and often overlooked components of a scene. After two years separated by literally six feet—and many centuries of burying loved ones six feet under—the concept of space gave artists a chance to explore themes of isolation beyond the physical separations of our shared experience. \nJoin us on opening day\, Friday\, August 5 between 12-9pm for the widest selection of artwork. Mark your calendar or set a reminder through Eventbrite. The artworks feature the shadows cast on subjects and the negative spaces revealing previously unseen images to help us visualize empathy and compassion for seeing the same thing differently. \nFitting beautifully into the space during the exhibit are several workshops\, including: \n\n“A Space to Clean” Soap-making Workshop on Saturday\, August 6 from 10am-1pm;\nEveryday Abstracts a la El Anatsui Workshop on Saturday\, August 13 from 6-8pm;\nQuilt Patch Mosaic Workshop on Tuesday\, August 16 from 6:30-8:30pm;\nPlaying with Resin Workshop on Sunday\, August 21 from 6-9pm; and\nVictorian Inspired Earrings Workshop on Saturday\, August 27 from 10am-12pm.\n\nRegister in advance for workshops at DelRayArtisans.org/workshops. \nThe A Space Between exhibit runs August 5-27\, 2022 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are First Thursday (Apr-Sept) 12-9pm\, Thursday 12-6pm\, Friday 12-9pm\, Saturday 12-6pm\, and Sunday 12-6pm (closed on Sunday\, August 28\, 2022). DESCRIPTION:This workshop has been canceled. \nInstructor: Shona D’Cruz (pronounced “shawna”)Dates: Tuesday\, August 16 from 6:30–8:30pmCost: $70 Del Ray Artisans members and $85 for non-members\, plus a $20 supply feeClass size: 6-14 (12 years minimum age)(Register by midnight on August 12) \nCreate a beautiful 4″ by 4″ ready-to-hang mosaic panel out of beautiful millefiori\, ceramic tiles\, stained glass\, vitreous tiles\, natural elements and other fun materials. During this 2-hour class\, the instructor will walk you through the steps of creating a design\, along with considerations for color and placement of your chosen tesserae. Designs may be geometric\, free-form or pretty much anything you fancy! Please note the following: \n\nPlease do not bring any glass or ceramic cutting tools to this workshop.\nPlease wear closed-toed shoes.\nThis is not messy work (no glass cutting)\, but the adhesive won’t come off clothing.
