DESCRIPTION:Flora & Fauna Art Exhibit\nMarch 4–26\, 2022\nPhoto Album \nThe Flora & Fauna art exhibit at Del Ray Artisans gallery explores the interdependence of plants and animals\, combining art and environmental science. In recent years\, climate change and pollution have endangered the complex interactions between plants and animals. \nPollinators (birds\, bats\, bees\, butterflies\, beetles\, and other small mammals) are vital to creating and maintaining the habitats and ecosystems that many rely on for food and shelter. Plants like almond trees\, berry bushes and flowers need pollinators to survive and reproduce. Large animals\, like giraffes and elephants\, rely on plants for food\, shelter\, and shade to protect them from the environment and predators. This art exhibit is focused on exploring and showing these connections. \nJoin us on opening day\, Friday\, March 4\, between 12-9pm for the widest selection of artwork by local artists. Mark your calendar now or set a reminder through Eventbrite. \nHeld in conjunction with this exhibit\, register for the free online talk by Master Naturalist Chris Allgyer about Dragonflies and Damselflies of Virginia on Wednesday\, March 9 from 7-8pm. \nHave you always wanted to try your hand at floristry? Register now for the “Flowers Everywhere!” workshop on Saturday\, March 19 from 6:30-8:30pm. Instructor BWS Johnson will teach you how to level up grocery store arrangements and the difference in quality between wholesale and retail blooms\, plus you’ll get to bring home your masterpiece at the end of the workshop. \nEvent details and registration are at DelRayArtisans.org/workshops \nThe Flora & Fauna exhibit runs March 4–26\, 2022 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are Thursday 12-6pm\, Friday 12-9pm\, Saturday 12-6pm\, and Sunday 12-6pm (closed the last Sunday of the month). \nDel Ray Artisans has taken the ALX Promise pledge and is committed to the health and safety of our visitors. The gallery capacity is limited to 15 people at any one time. Face masks must be worn by all while visiting the gallery. DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Creative Revival – A 10-Week Course on The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron\nDate/Time: Mondays from 6-7:30pm\, March 21 through May 23 (10 weeks total)\nInstructor: Sharon Burton\nCost: $145 Del Ray Artisans member / $155 Non-member\nClass size: 6-12 participants\n(Register by midnight on March 19) \nNeed to jump start your creativity? Creative Revival is a 10-week course based on The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.  The program is focused on identifying and removing creative blocks\, fostering confidence and creating a community with other creatives with similar goals and interests. Every week we will meet to discuss each chapter of the book\, encourage daily “morning pages” practice\, share Artist’s Dates\, and engage in other exercises that will foster creativity. \nEveryone will also have an opportunity to receive a complimentary one hour individual creativity coaching session with the facilitator\, a certified creativity coach\, to focus on specific areas regarding their creativity practice. A private web portal will also be available for participants to share thoughts and network with other participants. \nThe course will be held online via Zoom on Mondays from 6-7:30pm\, starting March 21 through May 23\, 2022. Participants will need a copy of the book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron and a dedicated journal for the morning pages. \nRegister Now \n\nAbout the Instructor: Sharon J. Burton is an artist\, art curator\, and creativity coach and Founder of Spark Your Creative based in the Washington\, DC area. Sharon is a collage and mixed media visual artist and has shown her work in exhibitions in the Metropolitan DC area and across the country since 2006. As a creativity coach she infuses her coaching with wellness practices to help her clients break through the blocks that prevent them from fully engaging in their creative potential. Sharon is certified by the Creativity Coaching Association as a creativity coach\, a Divine Sleep yoga nidra guide and in breathwork and meditation.
