DESCRIPTION:DADA 2.0 Exhibit\nFebruary 4–26\, 2022\nPhoto Album \nThe DADA 2.0 art exhibit at Del Ray Artisans gallery features art by local artists that expresses absurdity and discontent through the lens of Dada. \nFor two years\, life in the U.S. has been bizarre\, confusing\, and at times downright disturbing. With the COVID-19 pandemic\, uptick in violence\, and social and political strife\, we have all been feeling off-kilter. In some ways\, this is reminiscent of the period during WWI\, where artists expressed their discontent towards violence\, war\, and nationalism. They did so by rejecting logic\, reason\, and decadence through an artistic expression of nonsense\, irrationality\, and unconventionalism. This movement became known as Dada or Dadaism\, and birthed through the idea that “dada”\, known as baby talk\, evokes childishness and absurdity. \nJoin us on opening day\, Friday\, February 4 between 12-9pm for the widest selection of artwork. Mark your calendar now or set a reminder through Eventbrite. \nThe DADA 2.0 exhibit runs February 4 – 26\, 2022 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are Thursday 12-6pm\, Friday 12-9pm\, Saturday 12-6pm\, and Sunday 12-6pm (closed the last Sunday of the month). \nDel Ray Artisans has taken the ALX Promise pledge and is committed to the health and safety of our visitors. The gallery capacity is limited to 15 people at any one time. Face masks must be worn by all while visiting the gallery. DESCRIPTION:Join fellow Del Ray Artisans members ONLINE for the Member Meeting on Sunday\, February 20 starting at 4pm. \nLearn about Del Ray Artisans’ upcoming exhibits and programs\, as well as catch up with other members. PLUS Judy Gula\, owner of Artistic Artifacts\, will talk about keeping her business and her art going during the pandemic. \nRegister for the meeting by noon on February 19 and attend the meeting to be eligible for the drawing to win a new upcycled wine gift bag or tote bag made from past exhibit banners. The bags will be given away at the end of the meeting and must be picked up by the winner no later than March 26. \nIf you have any questions\, please reach out the Membership Director\, Beth Richardson\, at Membership@DelRayArtisans.org. \nThe meeting will be online through the Zoom platform. The meeting is open to all members and is free\, but you must register by 3pm on February 20  to receive the Zoom meeting connection information in time.
