DESCRIPTION:Expanding the Common Ground: Voices of the Global Majority Art Exhibit\nOctober 1 – 30\, 2021\n“Skin Deep: Underneath Don’t We All Look the Same” by Amy Kitchin\nPhoto Album \nThe Expanding the Common Ground: Voices of the Global Majority art exhibit explores what makes us one\, seeks the common ground among us\, and examines what it means to heal the divides. The world has been designed by institutions\, and terms like people of color or minorities serve to divide us and create white vs. non-white or us vs. them paradigms. Local artists and high school students present artworks examining all facets of our diversity and celebrating our unity. \nReserve a ticket for a half-hour viewing on opening day: Friday\, October 1 between 12-9pm. Opening day tickets are not required\, but ticket holders have priority entry. \nPlus join us for the “Storytelling in Fabric” virtual Artist Talk on Sunday\, October 10 at 2-3pm. Fabric artist Sheryl Sims will share her art quilts that illustrate her family’s heritage of black and white\, enslaved and free. (View the Recording) \nGallery hours are Thursday 12-6pm\, Friday 12-9pm\, Saturday 12-6pm\, and Sunday 12-6pm (closed the last Sunday of the month). Del Ray Artisans is ALX Promise certified and committed to the health and safety of our visitors. Face masks must be worn by all while visiting the gallery. \nThe exhibit runs October 1 – 30\, 2021 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. SUMMARY:ONLINE: 2021 Annual Member Meeting with Elections
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 21\, 2021 starting at 7pm(Register & Vote before Oct 20 at Noon)\n \n\nRegister to attend the Annual Meeting Online\nVote Online for the 2022 Board of Directors\n\nThe meeting will be an online Zoom meeting. Registration will be published in advance. Registered members will be sent login information via email the day before the meeting. You may attend on a computer\, tablet\, or smartphone. \nWe have a full agenda planned for you during the ONLINE Annual Member Meeting! This will be your opportunity to hear information about all the shows planned for 2022. Dale Spivey\, President\, will present a special message about the organization and introduce the newly elected 2022 Board of Directors. Due to the pandemic\, voting will be online this year. (Voting details in the next section.) \nMembers who register by the deadline (noon on Oct 20) and attend the meeting are eligible for the drawing to win a new upcycled tote bag and wine gift bag made from past exhibit banners. The bags will be given away at the end of the meeting and must be picked up by the winner no later than Nov 28. \nRegister for the Meeting \n\nVoting for the Slate or Individual Candidates\n“Members in Good Standing” (current membership) are eligible to vote—so please renew your membership if you haven’t already. You do not need to attend the meeting to vote. All electronic votes must be received by Wednesday\, October 20 at noon. Select the “VOTE NOW” button to open the ballot. \nVOTE NOW \nIf you do not wish to vote electronically\, we urge you to make a Proxy vote by phone.
