SUMMARY:Tangerine (1/10-2/2)
DESCRIPTION:Tangerine Art Exhibit\nJanuary 10 – February 2\, 2020\nOpening Reception: Friday\, January 10 from 7-9pm\n“Broken” by Betsy Mead\nJoin us at Del Ray Artisans gallery for Tangerine\, an art exhibit exploring the color and all it represents. Tangerine is a saturated\, bold orange hue that describes the exterior of the delicious fruit! Like most other orange hues\, tangerine is associated with energy\, youth\, and happiness. It has also been the love interest in popular songs\, and is said to stimulate the joyful energy of the inner child. This juried exhibit features art from local area artists and is guaranteed to bring warmth and brightness to the wintry days of January. Meet the artists at the opening reception on Friday\, January 10 from 7-9pm. \nThe juror is Jane Hartman\, a most imaginative artist who uses her science background to create both fanciful and realistic “creatures” in glass including insects\, fish\, trilobites and protozoa\, to name a few. Over the past decade\, Jane has made a name for herself in the world of science art: being featured on many blogs\, websites\, and professional science conferences. She has collaborated with scientists from around the world and her work may be seen online and in many juried art shows. \nThe January 2020 edition of WETA Arts features Tangerine! First air: Sunday\, January 5 at 10pm on WETA; streaming starting January 6.\nAlso\, register now for our special January workshops: Introduction to Bookmaking on January 11 with instructor Stacy Rausch; Freaky Batiky Fused Glass Bowls on January 18 & 25 with instructor Betsy Mead; and Hand Carving Rubber Stamps on January 25 with instructor Stacy Rausch. For details\, please visit www.DelRayArtisans.org/workshops \nThe exhibit runs January 10 through February 2\, 2020 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are: Thursdays 12-6pm\, Fridays 12-9pm\, Saturdays 12-9pm\, and Sundays 12-6pm. The gallery is free\, open to the public\, and accessible. \nFor more information\, please contact the curator Betsy Mead (egmead@gmail.com) or Director of Curating Brittany Gabel (Curating@DelRayArtisans.org).
