Meet the curator and the artists at the opening reception on Friday\, October 4 from 7-9pm. \nThe original Twilight Zone took viewers to another dimension. Created by Rod Serling\, the show explored humanity’s hopes\, despairs\, prejudices and more in metaphoric ways that conventional television could not. Art Inspired by The Twilight Zone brings this timeless show to life through art and photography. Journey into your own wondrous land of imagination influenced by The Twilight Zone and view art that will entertain and inspire. \nThe exhibit runs October 4-27\, 2019 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are: Thursdays 12-6pm\, Fridays 12-9pm\, Saturdays 12-9pm\, and Sundays 12-6pm. DESCRIPTION:This talk has been canceled. \nInstructor: Gwen Lafleur\nDate: Saturday\, October 12 from 1-2:30pm\nCost: FREE for members\, $15 at the door for non-members\n(RSVP by October 9) \nJoin local mixed media artist\, designer\, and instructor Gwen Lafleur for a discussion on creativity – what it is\, how to get it\, and how she works on building her own creative practice. Gwen will share some of how she finds and curates inspiration and then some of the ways that she interprets that inspiration for artwork and product design. She’ll also talk about methods for staying inspired and motivated and how she keeps from getting blocked. \nFor additional guidance and to stretch your own creative self\, Gwen Lafleur is teaching The Hanging Art Journal workshop on November 16 at Artistic Artifacts. \n \n\nAbout the Instructor: Gwen Lafleur is a lifelong artist\, crafter\, designer\, and world traveler who has been involved in arts and crafts her entire life\, trying anything from drawing lessons to paper crafts and finally finding her true home as a mixed media artist. Gwen’s work can be found in private collections around the world and has been published in Cloth Paper Scissors\, Somerset Studio\, and Creative Scrapbooker magazines. A member of the Association For Creative Industries (AFCI)\, she is a columnist and designer for StencilGirl Products and has a namesake line of embossing powders and embellishments with Emerald Creek Craft Supplies available at Artistic Artifacts. \n. \n\nView other upcoming workshops\, information about the facility\, and policies on the Upcoming Workshops page.
