We all have masculine and feminine qualities inside of us. The exhibit is at Del Ray Artisans gallery from May 3 through June 2\, 2019. Join us for the opening reception on Friday\, May 3 from 7-9pm to meet the curators and artists. \nA number of special workshops will be held in conjunction with this exhibit\, including: \n\nIntro to Honoring the Sacred Feminine in this Busy World on Thursday\, May 9 from 7-8:30pm\nCreate daily rituals to connect and tap your sacred power with instructor Adriana Correa.\nBasic Salsa Techniques on Saturday\, May 11 from 1-2pm\nGet ready to learn Salsa! Bebe Uy and her students will give a short demonstration\, then strut your stuff while learning basic salsa dancing technique\, combinations\, body movement\, musicality and dance partner exercises. \n\n“Our Lady of Sorrowful Beauty” by Lynn Fernandez\n\n\nGoddess-Wear – Creating Leather Jewelry on Tuesday\, May 14 from 6-9pm\nLearn leather working techniques while getting in touch with the Divine Feminine with instructor Lynn Fernandez.\nThe Fire Starter on Saturday\, May 18 from 10am-12pm\nCut through dull thinking and fear\, and get straight to YOUR core desires\, pragmatism\, and courage with certified coach Liz Strom.\nPlaying with Resin – Curves and Edges Edition on Sunday\, May 19 from 6-9pm\nPlay with resin in a safe environment to learn the ins & outs of mixing resin and using it in your artwork with instructor Tracy Wilkerson.\nExploring and Making Bangles on Wednesday\, May 29 from 6-8pm\nLearn beginner wire jewelry making techniques while creating basic bangle bracelets with instructor Tamara Wilkerson.\nExploring Flamenco & Odissi on Saturday\, June 1 from 10am-Noon\nExplore the beauty and nuance of Odissi (Classical Indian Dance) & Flamenco\, highlighting the feminine strength and beauty in each style with instructors Marsha Bonet and Tapasi Panigrahi.\n\nRegister for workshops in advance at www.DelRayArtisans.org/workshops or at the gallery. \nThe Sacred Feminine exhibit and workshops are at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center\, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue\, Alexandria\, Virginia 22301. Each new member is invited to enter three pieces of artwork for FREE. \nDuring the Membership Drive from February-May 2019\, any current member who recruits a new member is also invited to enter one piece of artwork in this exhibit for FREE. \nFresh Meat does not have a theme and is the perfect opportunity to showcase any and all styles of art. Matthew will take you on a journey through time\, space\, and scale – as you shrink down and experience alien worlds that are right beneath your nose! \nYou’ll learn about his roots as a photographic artist\, hear some unreleased stories\, and learn how he looks for (and documents) these incredible places. From the jungles of Sri Lanka to the wilds of Iceland\, this event is for people of any age and is sure to leave you filled with wonder and a renewed sense of childhood curiosity. \nPhotograph by Matthew Cicanese\nMatthew’s work also examines the intersection of art\, science\, and the visceral connections that humans have with the natural world. His work illuminates life forms around the world that exist in our periphery – yet hold a critical significance. \nNo need to register in advance.
