Tell Me a Story art exhibit extended to April 26, 2020;
19th Amendment, The War of the Roses art exhibit rescheduled to November 2020

The City of Alexandria public health officials are urging residents to practice social distancing in response to COVID-19. In compliance with their guidelines, CDC recommendations, and the Governor’s directive, we have made adjustments to our upcoming programs and exhibits schedule. The health and safety of our members, patrons and neighbors is important to us. Door knobs and other commonly touched surfaces are regularly being sanitized by gallery staff. If you feel sick or need to take greater precaution, please stay home.
Our creative workshops, Partners in Art meetings, and Life Drawing sessions have been cancelled through mid-April or later. Please check Del Ray Artisans’ calendar for the up-to-date schedule and event information. Programs that remain on schedule include:
- Volunteer in the Garden: Join our small group of garden curators and enjoy the fresh air! Volunteer outdoors in Del Ray Artisans’ garden and learn tips on weeding, trimming, and plant care. Please join us next on Saturday, April 4 from 9-11:30am.
- Urban Sketchbooking: Convey a sense of place or a moment in time through drawings completed from direct observations. Bring your supplies and sketchbook and join our small group at Nectar Del Ray (106 Hume Ave, Alexandria VA) on Sunday, April 12 from 1-3pm. This drop-in program is $8 for members and $10 for non-members.
The Tell Me a Story art exhibit has been extended through April 26, 2020. This exhibit opened on March 6, 2020 with a busy reception and high praise. Come see it now to experience at your own pace. Effective immediately all of the artwork in the Tell Me a Story exhibit will be able to go home with the buyer immediately after purchase. Buyers who previously purchased artwork may also pick up during gallery hours.
Tell Me a Story is curated by Lesley Hall and features a variety of visual art and literary works by local artists. This exhibit will take you on an imaginative journey at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours in March are Friday & Saturday 12-9pm, Sunday & Thursday 12-6pm. Gallery hours will be reduced in April to only Thursday & Friday 12-6pm (closed Saturday-Wednesday). We expect only a small number of visitors. The gallery is free, open to the public, and accessible.
Save the dates: The 19th Amendment, The War of the Roses art exhibit originally scheduled for April has been moved to November 6-29, 2020. Celebrating the 100-year Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, the 19th Amendment, The War of the Roses art exhibit will pay tribute to the rights we enjoy today because of the battle won for women’s right to vote in 1920. The exhibit is curated by Drew Cariaso and Amy Kitchin Hower and will feature artwork by Del Ray Artisans members and local high school students.
