Del Ray Artisans’ Silver Legacy Project for the Alexandria City Public Schools

Presentation and Reception: Friday, March 2 from 7-9pm

Del Ray Artisans’ 25th Anniversary year, 2017, was jam packed with fun and exciting events, opportunities to give back to the community, and promising plans for the future. In addition to celebrating the founding of the organization in 1992, the 25th Anniversary Committee pledged to continue Del Ray Artisans’ commitment to contributing to the community and established the 25th Anniversary Silver Legacy Project for this purpose. The Silver Legacy Project’s task was to raise funds for art-related books for local elementary schools. Del Ray Artisans is proud to announce the success of this project!

Through donated funds from Silver Star purchases and with the assistance of two local companies, Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota and Alexandria Hyundai, Del Ray Artisans will present a check for $2100 to Alexandria City Public Schools. Books related to art and artisans will be purchased for Cora Kelley, William Ramsay, John Adams, Jefferson Houston, and Patrick Henry Elementary Schools.

The presentation of the funds will be made by Del Ray Artisans’ President Drew Cariaso and the 25th Anniversary Committee at the opening reception of Del Ray Artisans’ March 2018 art exhibit, Outdoors In. The public is invited to attend the reception and presentation on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 7-9pm at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. The gallery is free, open to the public, and handicap accessible.

Del Ray Artisans would like to thank every individual and business that contributed funds to the Silver Legacy Project. Individuals purchased Silvers Stars at $25 each to support Del Ray Artisans’ anniversary activities. A portion of the Silver Star purchases was designated to provide art-related books for the Silver Legacy Project. Over 120 Silver Stars were sold. Two local businesses (Alexandria Hyundai and Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota) donated specifically to the Silver Legacy Project. Twenty other local businesses donated to Del Ray Artisans in 2017 to support the mission of promoting art for the benefit of artists and the community. Thank you to every patron!

Del Ray Artisans is an invaluable and integral part of the City of Alexandria and the Del Ray community. The 25th Anniversary year was a time of looking back and also ahead to the future. Del Ray Artisans continues to thrive, providing inspiration to artists as well as the public.
