Del Ray Artisans invites you to experience the Pictures at an Alexandria Exhibition (curated by Kelly MacConomy and Margaret Slipek). This is a collaborative project between Del Ray Artisans (DRA) , the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA), and the Symphony Orchestra League of Alexandria (SOLA).
For this exhibit, artists created pieces inspired by the following selections of music: (1) Grand Canyon Suite, Ferde Grofé ~ Movement 4 ~ Sunset; (2) Dances of the Knights from Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Ballet; (3) Billy the Kid Suite, Aaron Copland ~ Movements 6, 7, 8: VI Celebration, VII Billy’s Death, VIII The Open Prairie; and (4) Mississippi Suite, Ferde Grofé ~ Movement 3 ~ Mardi Gras.
The one-of-a-kind artworks are to be sold at an online auction. Bidding is now open through Ararity Auctions. The auction closes at 6pm on Sunday, May 31, 2026. View the artwork and place your bids now. Proceeds benefit each artist, DRA, SONOVA, and SOLA.
On May 30 at 3pm, SONOVA will present a live performance of the four musical compositions that inspired the artwork at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center at Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC), Alexandria Campus. (NVCC does not sponsor or endorse this event.) Selected artworks from the auction will be featured digitally during the concert. Tickets are available on the SONOVA website.
