Kondo vs. Chaos

The Kondo vs. Chaos exhibit examines two versions of “stuff”: (1) the Marie Kondo minimizing theory where you only keep the things that “bring you joy” and where everything is precisely ordered. Followers of the KonMari method tend to be people who are uncomfortable with chaos and thrive on order, or (2) the chaos reality where there’s no discernible order and everywhere you look you see objects that remind you of your life. Followers of chaos may be people who think “outside the box” or don’t see “the box.” Artists may integrate one or both aspects and are encouraged to explore their heart and psyche when creating.
