Have you dreamed of going off to summer camp like you once did as a child, or as your own child does now? Maybe you never got to experience one at all, and now feel left out as an adult. Do you want a chance to attend a summer “camp” tailored for grown-ups to be creative in a welcoming environment with beginner and experienced artists? If so, then join us at the Del Ray Artisans gallery in Alexandria for a “stay-cation” art experience this summer where you can customize your own “art camp” at Grown-Ups Art Camp (GUAC).

Sign up for as many classes as you like from the nearly 20 classes being offered during 10 days of art-filled workshops taught by local artists. The variety of workshops offered will be for all skill levels and art experience (even if you don’t think you are an artist). Classes range from techniques in painting (including the on-trend acrylic paint pour method), bookmaking (create your own sketchbook or turn your favorite childhood board game into a journal), sketching (for nature or urban environments), jewelry making, leather-working, and multiple methods using mixed media. Learn the basics of polymer clay, turn recycled materials into a fun sculpture, and explore how to take better photographs with your smartphone. You can also make paper flowers or needle-felted creatures, as well as learning to use art for visualization, communication, and intention. Classes will be held June 30-July 1, July 4-8, and July 11-13 – with morning, afternoon and evening sessions. GUAC is a great creative boost and a fun, interactive activity for you and your friends.

Questions? Please email Stacy Rausch, Programs Director, at Programs@DelRayArtisans.org. Some classes may fill up fast, and registration will end a week before each class date, so register now at the gallery or online at www.DelRayArtisans.org/event/guac-2018/

Workshops are held at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Regular gallery hours are suspended for the month of July. The gallery is handicap accessible.
