We will explore the world of printmaking by making relief prints using foam plates. Foam plates—not picnic plates, but sheets of foam manufactured for printmaking—are a quick and expressive way to create relief prints. Our subject matter will be the Hamsa symbol, which will facilitate the students’ use and experimentation with the media. Students will learn the basics of relief printmaking and also learn about some of the more “experimental” techniques to enhance the creativity of their prints. All students will take home materials and tools to enable them to create relief prints on their own. The goal of the workshop for all students, beginning and experienced artists alike, is to incorporate a new art skill into their current art making.
Class size 5-12 participants. Price is $40 for DRA members and $50 for non-members, plus $55 supply fee.

GUAC Workshop: Easy-Peasy Relief Printmaking
I’m a retired middle school art teacher. I enjoy having the time to pursue my art and to share my art experience and knowledge on occasion. Currently, my main focus is on printmaking, but I also enjoy watercolor and pastels. In my artwork I show the natural world through still lifes, landscapes, and floral scenes.
