This year Del Ray Artisans will be celebrating 25 years of making opportunities possible through art. We invite you to discover all the ways we have helped create a diverse array of community opportunities, and how Del Ray Artisans is taking that creativity into other areas of Alexandria. If you are inspired, as we have been, we ask you to support and join us in this year-long celebration of artistic endeavors in Alexandria.
Join us in an array of 25th Anniversary Events
In honor of our 25th Anniversary, we will be hosting a number of Special Events including:
- March 19th “Reflecting on our Future” Silver Anniversary Reception
- June 2nd “Red, White and Tuna” at The Little Theatre of Alexandria
- September 28th Twisted Silver Auction
In addition to our 25th Anniversary activities we will continue our diverse artistic programming including monthly art exhibits, workshops, the spring art fair, holiday market children and grown-up art camps, and more.
Support Us During Our Anniversary Year
In honor of our 25th Anniversary, you can become a Silver Star by donating $25 to Del Ray Artisans and our 25th Anniversary Legacy project. For each donation of $25, a Silver Star will be hung in the gallery with your name.
With your support on our 25th Anniversary year, we will be able to increase artistic activities to a diverse, multi-generational group of creative individuals and groups within the community. We are asking Alexandria area businesses to become Corporate Silver Supporters with a $250 donation in support of our silver anniversary.
T-Shirts: Begin preparing for the celebration with our new 25th Anniversary T-shirts. T-shirts sizes small through XL ($25 each) and XXL ($27 each) are available at the gallery.
25th Anniversary Legacy Project
Del Ray Artisans’ 25th Anniversary Legacy Project will provide funding to selected Alexandria elementary schools with art needs for art-related books.
25 Years of Creating Opportunities Though Art
At Del Ray Artisans we see Art and Alexandria as one, both inviting and reflecting the diversity of the city. But Alexandria wasn’t always the thriving city it is today…
Just as the Torpedo Factory helped transform the waterfront and Old Town areas of Alexandria in the 1970’s, Del Ray Artisans has helped bring positive foot traffic to the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria and beyond.
Twenty-five years ago, four artists who regularly walked their dogs together thought an art organization would spice up the neighborhood. The dogs agreed, and so the Arts Resource Foundation – ARF (yes, that is in reference to arrfff!) was born. Today this organization is known as Del Ray Artisans, with an active gallery in Del Ray and a Gallery Without Walls that reaches out to libraries, animal shelters, businesses, and restaurants throughout the city. DRA emphasizes support for emerging artists. Our focus on inclusiveness has attracted artisans with many skills, serving as a center for thriving artistic activity in the Del Ray community. Learn about our mission
