Creativity drives the mind to explore: it inspires the scientist to ask questions and search for understanding; it leads the engineer to new solutions and inventions; it pushes the artist to new levels of expression. Mathematics has its own beauty (like Euler’s identity), and principles of symmetry, geometry, and measurement are often used in creating beautiful artwork. As the scientist relies on creativity to explore, so too the artist uses science and technology. Anatomy informs the expression of human form, physics is used to find balance in 3-D installations, technology adds sound and motion in modern art, and so forth. The Art2 (Art Squared) exhibit will explore the synergy of art with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
