Faces Art Exhibit
January 4 – 27, 2019
Opening Reception: Friday, January 4 from 7-9pm

Join us at Del Ray Artisans from January 4-27, 2019 for the Faces art exhibit. Portraits show the life a person has lived, the joy a person emanates, the wisdom gained through years of living, and focuses on the soul of the person. This exhibit celebrates the fresh face of a two-year old toddler or the lived-in face of an octogenarian and all those living in-between. Faces and bodies are as the artist portrays them, whether realistic, impressionistic, surreal, or abstract.

  • The Art of Business workshop on Saturday, January 12, 10am-Noon. In a lecture and discussion format, Rita Schooley, CPA, will go over the general points of tax law and then answer questions on income, sales, and local Virginia county taxes. We will also discuss general aspects of business from an artist’s viewpoint, such as recordkeeping, record retention, filing tax returns, estimated tax payments, and navigating the tax maze. Register in advance.

  • Needle Felted Jewelry workshop on Saturday, January 12, 1-4pm. During this workshop, participants will learn the basics of how to create 3D Needle Felted Jewelry, as well as basic jewelry techniques. Instructor Brittany Gabel will also help you explore using other materials such as beads, charms, and thread in your needle felted jewelry pieces. Register in advance.

  • Creative Revival workshop starts Saturday, January 26, 2-4pm (recurring weekly for 12 weeks). Do you need support to make your creative dreams a reality? You are cordially invited to join the Creative Revival Artist’s Way Circle, a facilitated group by artist and curator Sharon Burton that will meet once a week for 12 weeks as we go through The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. The program is focused on supporting relationships in removing artistic blocks and fostering confidence. Register in advance.

The art exhibit, opening reception, and workshops are at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are: Thursdays 12-6pm, Fridays 12-9pm, Saturdays 12-9pm, and Sundays 12-6pm. The gallery is free, open to the public, and accessible.
